“As sleep apnea is not a diagnosis that is often made in a pregnant woman, having a large cohort such as the one that NPIC can offer has been critical. In addition, the linkage of maternal to neonatal records a definite advantage over other available national samples.”

A proprietary, comprehensive, multi-state perinatal data set

With NPIC member hospitals contributing over 16 million inpatient perinatal discharges since 1985 and over 725,000 perinatal discharges annually, the Perinatal Center Data Base (PCDB) is one of the largest multi-state perinatal discharge data bases available for research and benchmarking analytics.

Over 90% of all PCDB records are linked maternal to neonatal records

Supports analysis of rare conditions and special patient populations

Patient-Specific: Administrative (UB-04) data

Supplemental Perinatal Variables: Numeric gestational age, infant birth weight, mother’s MRN on the infant’s record, APGAR, Parity and Gravida

Data Quality: All data validated prior to inclusion in data base.

Stability: Over 70% of current NPIC member hospitals have participated in the PCDB for ≥ 5 years

Hospital Structural Variables: Supports analysis of the relationship between structure and outcome variables.

We can work with your team to develop proposals and provide data analytics to support your project requirements. Our services range from working with your research team to conduct data base analyses, recruiting participation of member hospital, to managing the submission of administrative and supplemental data for research participants.
