PERINATAL CENTER DATABASE

PERINATAL CENTER DATABASE

A proprietary, comprehensive, multi-state perinatal data set

With NPIC member hospitals contributing over 16 million inpatient perinatal discharges since 1985 and over 685,000 perinatal discharges annually, the Perinatal Center Database (PCDB) is one of the largest multi-state perinatal discharge databases available for research and benchmarking analytics.

Over 90% of all PCDB records are linked maternal to neonatal records

Supports analysis of rare conditions and special patient populations

Key Database Characteristics

Patient-Specific: Administrative (UB-04) data

Supplemental Perinatal Variables: Numeric gestational age, infant birth weight, mother’s MRN on the infant’s record, APGAR, Parity and Gravida

Data Quality: All data validated prior to inclusion in data base.

Stability: Over 70% of current NPIC member hospitals have participated in the PCDB for ≥ 5 years

Hospital Structural Variables: Supports analysis of the relationship between structure and outcome variables.
