Kathy Lasiter is a clinical informaticist at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns in San Diego, California. She works with nursing, anesthesiology, obstetrics, perinatology, neonatology, pediatrics, ancillary departments and patient access services to support the constant change and ongoing development of the electronic medical record. She supports the Women and Newborn Service Line for the Sharp Healthcare system with preparation and collection of neonatal and obstetrical data, and serves as a clinical guide for electronic documentation to implement changes that support clinicians at the bedside with the collection of supporting data.
Kathy was involved with implementing the first Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system at Sharp Healthcare involving three hospitals with women, newborn and NICU units, and led a team to assist with its design, training and implementation. She has supported nursing and physician EMR upgrades and design for the system in both nursing and administrative roles. Kathy assisted in the Standardization of Women’s and Newborn Care in Policy & Procedure and documentation guidelines.
For the past thirty-two years with the Sharp Healthcare system, Kathy has held several clinical and administrative positions. She worked as a bedside nurse, charge RN and held administrative roles for areas of Well Newborn Nursery, postpartum, intrapartum, antepartum, OR and OB triage. She is an advanced clinician and has held the position of Lead Manager of Labor, Delivery and Triage. She has also served as a Physician Educator for both acute care and mental health facilities within the Sharp Healthcare system, as well as Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns.
Kathy received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Colorado State University at Greely, Colorado.
