Membership and Related Services
A core business of the National Perinatal Information Center/Quality Analytic Services (NPIC/QAS) is its membership services. Annually, NPIC/QAS provides comparative benchmarking information to perinatal centers across the country. Member hospitals submit clinical and financial data (discharge abstract/UB 92), which is combined to create the Perinatal Center Data Base (PCDB). Since 1985, the PCDB has captured over 16 million discharges and is now one of the largest repositories for hospital based perinatal clinical and financial discharge data.

Analytic Services
NPIC/QAS provides data collection, data, processing and analytic services to the federal government, state agencies, as well as private and public foundations. We have an expertise in the management and analysis of large perinatal data sets and the development of custom reports. Reports are used by many contractors to understand the volume, utilization, quality and patient safety of individual hospitals and multiple hospital systems in comparison to themselves or to the NPIC/QAS Perinatal Center Data Base. » Learn More

Evaluation and Research Services
NPIC/QAS has expertise in the design and implementation of formative and summative evaluation related to the organization, effectiveness and cost of health service programs. Evaluation activities include the development of quantitative and qualitative data collection instruments, as well as data collection and analysis. Current projects include substance abuse prevention and treatment programs as well as efforts to integrate HIV risk reduction with behavioral health treatment.
