Membership Benefits

Quarterly Reports

Member hospitals receive the quarterly NPIC/QAS Report that includes comparative financial, clinical and quality indicators comparing their facility to a peer subgroup and the Perinatal Center Data Base (PCDB) as a whole. The Quarterly Report covers a full one-year period and is updated each quarter with the most recent quarter available. Each report profiles obstetric and neonatal activity along with actual and case mix-adjusted length of stay and charge data. Graphical displays of quality indicators and trend analyses include confidence intervals and subgroup and data base comparisons.

NPIC/QAS membership includes reporting on four quarters of the calendar year in which the hospital joins. There is an approximate 5-6 month turnaround time from the end of each calendar quarter until production and distribution of the quarterly comparative report. During this period, NPIC/QAS receives the data submission, processes the file and creates a report for validation and sign-off by the hospital.

Quarterly Reports are distributed electronically to all recipients designated by the hospital. Following the distribution, NPIC/QAS hosts user teleconferences to review the Report and respond to any questions regarding the substance and/or format of the data displayed.
