NPIC/QAS spent close to a year working with neonatologists from our Board of Directors, and the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) to develop a Maintenance of Certification Part 4 collaborative program. |

NPIC/QAS's Quality Collaborative provides an American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) approved Quality Improvement (QI) Project for physician Maintenance of Certification Part 4 credit:
The Winter 2012 Collaborative: Reducing Readmission of the Late Preterm Birth (LPB) Infant Within 7 Days of Discharge through Implementation of Late Preterm Birth Discharge Criteria is now in progress..
Physicians participating in this program must do so in collaboration with the QI activities of the pediatric (and/or perinatal) departments of their institution.
The specific aim of this project is to reduce the 7 (14) day post-discharge readmission rate by 75% for LPB neonates at participating hospitals. This will be achieved through the development of a standardized discharge readiness process for all late preterm infants (≥ 34 to < 37 completed weeks gestation) and application of late preterm birth education.
Physicians completing this program will be awarded 25 Part 4 credits from the ABP.
