The purpose/goal(s) of this activity are to enable the learner to expand their knowledge base in relation to the updated Perinatal Care (PC) Core Measures.

Objectives:
  • Discuss the Perinatal Care (PC) project and reporting requirements
  • Discuss each of the Perinatal Care (PC) core performance measures and the recent revisions to the measures
  • Discuss some of the resources available for improving perinatal care

Presenter Information

Celeste Milton, MPH, BSN, RN

Ms. Milton has been Associate Project Director in the Center for Performance Measurement, Division of Healthcare Quality Evaluation at The Joint Commission since 2005. She is project lead for Perinatal Care (PC) core performance measures, directs all phases of the PC project, and was involved in the development of final measure specifications for maternal/child care measures for the international project including onsite reliability testing in 2011.

She held positions as performance improvement review specialist, clinical coordinator, financial planner, medical sales consultant, and staff nurse. She has expertise in critical care, post-anesthesia recovery, emergency and trauma, and home health.

Her education includes a Masters of Public Health, Northern Illinois University; Bachelor of Science in Nursing, University of Texas Health Science Center; and Associate Degree in Nursing from Joliet Junior College.
